Wedding Shoes...and Wedding Socks: A Groom's Story

In case you didn't know, I'm a freelance professional violinist. A lot of the times, I play wedding music when I'm hired for a wedding However, I had a special wedding gig that was totally different. My buddy Andrew, is an excellent barista at Vagabond Coffee and one of the nicest people you will meet in the Murray Hill neighborhood district. He's been a longtime supporter of my instagram and reached out to me for advice styling his wedding attire with fun socks for his wedding last September. I was so happy to say yes as a sock stylist!

I searched the internet to find "the" pair for Andrew. So this is how I approached Andrew's request. The wedding colors involved Burgundy and for the groomsman that meant a grey suit, burgundy tie, and brown dress shoes. Andrew wanted something different for himself. He wanted statement socks that wasn't too busy but just enough detail.

I suggested a pair of Burgundy socks by BUGATCHI that had an symmetrical pattern with different color accents. Bugatchi socks work great for formal wear. The hand linked toe seam and Egyptian cotton are perfectly comfy for when you walk down the aisle, greeting guests, and dancing with your now lovely wife. You can style almost any pair of dress socks with a black (or brown) dress shoe. I think as the Groom, if the Bride has her dress then why not have some fun too? Glad you agree Andrew!

Another thing Andrew wanted was that all his groomsman needed to have the same burgandy socks with the same pattern. Perfect for wedding souvenirs! So I directed his attention to Burgundy socks with white dots by Strollegant. What was the result?

"Case in point: I’ve seen all my groomsmen style their socks since the wedding — eagerly. I’m no exception!

And here’s my favorite thing: he won’t settle for you merely liking something. Jordan’s too honest for that. He’ll work to make sure you love what you wear. And for something like a wedding (or anything that’ll be captured in photo of forever), I’d hit him up again and again.

Many thanks, Sockateur. As ever, it was an absolute delight."-Andrew Woods

Everything turned out well and I'm happy I had to chance to help all the men make a statement that compliments the wedding. Its part of the reason I made an Amazon store where I've picked a variety of socks to fit many occasions. You can find some Bugatchi and Strollegant options there. If you're searching for special socks, definitely shoot me an email. I'd be honor to help you have the best sockgame for your wardrobe

An absolute delight. That’s how I’d describe working with Jordan.

I recently asked him to help me style the socks for my groomsmen and me. On one hand, it was an opportunity to just hang out with the guy. Jordan’s the kind of person that makes you feel purely better as a human. He’s a thoughtful encourager; he’ll get just as excited about your wins as you do. I think that’s what gives him his effortless way of building community in Jacksonville. Spend any length of time with him and you’ll see it.

Then there’s his style.
I’ll bet that the look you decide on together becomes your new favorite thing to wear. Case in point: I’ve seen all my groomsmen style their socks since the wedding — eagerly. I’m no exception!
